Jolly Dolly Assembly

Step 01

Mount large wheels and tires on hand truck. Install them with the valve stem facing outwards.  Install lug nuts with the tapered edge facing the wheels. Hand tighten first, then tighten with a  13/16” lug wrench or deep socket in a diamond pattern. Do not overtighten!

Step 02

Mount small wheels onto wagon attachment (if equipped). Secure in place using the supplies  collars. Tighten the set screws with a 5/32 allen wrench.

Mount the ball hitch to the trailer dolly using the supplied lock washer and nut. Tighten with a  wrench or channel lock pliers.

Step 03

Check the air pressure in the tires. All tires should be around 30 PSI. See the Maintenance  Sections for more details.

Important Safety Information

  • Study, understand, and follow all instructions before operating this device.
  • Do not exceed rated capacity.
  • Do not use on slopes exceeding 15 degrees.
  • Make sure load is stable and secure before moving.
  • Use as intended only (to move deflated and rolled-up inflatables and inflatable accessories).
  • Do not modify.
  • Inspect before each use.
  • No riders. Keep area clear of spectators

FOR PROFESSIONAL USE ONLY: Moving inflatables (or any heavy objects) has inherent risks that include  possible serious injury or death. It is a job recommended for professionals only, those with adequate strength and experience handling heavy materials. If you are unsure if you are qualified to do that, it is recommended that you delegate the job to someone who is.

The person operating the Jolly Dolly may require more 1 or more assistants to accomplish some tasks  with it. That will depend on the difficulty of the task, and is a judgement call to be made by the operator.  Assistants should also be professionals with adequate strength and experience handling heavy  materials.

CRITICAL SAFETY WARNINGS

Always keep torso between handles when pushing hand truck. Never back down a slope or ramp in wagon mode… always go wagon first!

When loading accessories onto an empty wagon, start placing them over the hitch first to establish tongue weight first. Loading an empty wagon near the plate or unloading a wagon leaving the load close to the plate can cause the dolly to stand up violently which can cause serious injury! Maintain control and down pressure on wagon handle when in wagon mode

Hand Truck Operation

Step 01: Loading an Inflatable

Stand the inflatable up against the dolly. Make sure the dolly’s load plate is under  the edge of the inflatable. Lean the inflatable back against the dolly frame. Strap the inflatable to the  dolly using a ratchet strap. Stand behind the dolly. Put one foot on a tire or the footbrake (if equipped)  to prevent rolling (you can also utilize wheel chocks if available). Put one hand on the dolly handle or  frame rail and use the other hand to grab the inflatable. Pull back until the dolly and inflatable tilt  backwards. Use your other foot as a counterbalance and to catch yourself as the had truck and load  pivot backwards. Keep pulling back until the load is balanced.

Step 02: Loading with as Assistant

For best results, the use of an assistant is recommended for the loading  process. Have the assistant stand in front of the inflatable and grab it with both hands; one at the top  and one at the bottom. Have him/her simultaneously lift from the bottom of the inflatable while  pushing back on the top while the primary operator performs the loading process mentioned above from behind the dolly.

SAFETY TIP: Check for any loose straps or loose material that could get caught under the wheels.

Step 03: Pushing the Hand Truck

Firmly grip both handles. Keep the handles at your waist. Keep your torso  between the handles. Push the dolly forward. Watch out for obstacles, bumps, holes in the ground, and  other hazards. Having an assistant help you with pushing and/or guide you is strongly recommended.

SAFETY TIP: Do not hold the dolly out in front of you when pushing. Keep your torso between the  handles and pressed firmly against the top rail of the dolly when pushing.

Step 04: Maneuvering the Hand Truck

Use extreme caution when maneuvering. Keep your legs and body out of  the way of the hand truck and inflatable in case they fall. Having an assistant help and/or guide the  operator when maneuvering is strongly recommended.

SAFETY TIP: Pulling the hand truck is not recommended because of the risk of tripping, falling, and  getting pinned under the dolly.

Step 05: Going up a Ramp Gate

Check that area is clear. Get a running start. Keep the handles as low as possible.  Lower them even further the moment the tires impact the bottom of the ramp. Continue pushing until  the tires clear the ramp. Use of an assistant is strongly recommended for this. Have the assistant run  along side you and help push.

SAFETY TIP: Keep the dolly as low to the ground as possible when going up a ramp gate, and use your  body weight to keep the dolly from suddenly pivoting up upon impact with the ramp. Practice with  lighter weight inflatables before trying heavier ones.

Step 06: Unloading the hand truck

Slowly raise the hand truck back to a standing position. Use the footbrake if  equipped to help control it. Push the inflatable over onto the ground. Do not let the hand truck fall over.

Wagon Mode Operation

Wagon Mode with Inflatables

You can convert the hand truck into a wagon using the optional wagon  attachment. Load the hand truck with an inflatable as described above. Carefully lower the hand truck onto the wagon attachment so that the ball hitch slips into the hitch receiver. If there’s extra room near  the top of the hand truck, you can load additional accessories. Pull the wagon using the handle on the  attachment. If an assistant is available, have him push the back of the inflatable.

Safety Tip: The person pulling the wagon handle must maintain control of the handle at all times and keep the wagon attachment balanced. Lifting the handle too far off the ground without maintaining down pressure can result in the wagon attachment collapsing backwards under the weight of the load.

Accessories Hauling

You can transport accessories such as blowers, tarps, extension cords, sandbags,  and anything within the maximum capacity that can be securely loaded onto the dolly while in wagon  mode. Lower the hand truck so that the ball hitch slips into the hitch receiver.

Safety Tip: The load must be balanced in wagon mode. Do not load heavy objects near the base of the dolly while in wagon mode or the dolly could suddenly and violently stand back upright causing serious injury!!! Avoid this by loading items near the hitch point first.

Going up a ramp gate in wagon mode

This can only be done with an assistant. Check that area is clear.  Make sure there is enough room to get all the way up the ramp. Get a running start. The primary  operator will lead up the ramp, pulling the trailer dolly behind him. The assistant will run behind the  dolly, pushing the dolly up the ramp.

SAFETY TIP: Avoid sharp turns in wagon mode. Use caution on slopes. Keep area clear in case the dolly turns over. When going down a slope or ramp gate in wagon mode, always lead with the trailer dolly; Never back down a slope or ramp in wagon mode!

Winch System (optional)

HD Winch Dollies are outfitted with a winch and self-contained enclosure containing a battery, circuit  breaker, solenoid, and wireless remote receiver. They are designed for assisting in rolling and standing  up inflatables up to 1000 pounds. No other usage is recommended.

Setup:

To use the winch, you must first anchor the dolly to the ground using the provided chain or strap.  Use a 1” diameter tent stake. For hard surfaces, you must attach the anchoring chain to something  immovable at ground level only. You can also extend the anchoring strap with a chain, rope, or strap  rated for 5000 pounds.

NOTE: For information on how to roll or stand up an inflatable with a winch and how to place straps on  the inflatable refer to our website or YouTube videos.

Operation:

Twist the red on/off switch clockwise until it clicks to turn on. Turn the freewheel clutch on  the winch to allow the winch cable to be pulled out, then turn it the other way to lock the cable. Use the  in/out buttons on the handle of the dolly or the wireless remote to operate the winch. When finished,  push the red on/off button in to turn the system off. Failure to turn it off can result in battery drainage.

Upper Snatch Block Operation:

The optional snatch block pully can be hung from the hook on the top of  the dolly to pull from an elevated position. You must take the bolt out of the pulley, insert the winch  cable, and put the bolt and nut back in place. To resist the dolly tipping over, stand behind the winch  and pull back when winching. You can also use a strap to attach the upper dolly hook to the ground  behind the dolly. The strap should be at least a 45 degree angle.

SAFETY TIP: The winch is designed for rolling and lifting inflatables. It is not designed to be used to pull anything heavier such as vehicles. It is not designed to be used at its full capacity of 5000 pounds. You should not pull more than 1000 pounds with the winch. See the manufacturer’s winch manual for additional operation instructions and warnings.

Charging:

Plug the provided battery charger into the charging connector located at the back of the dolly.  Plug the AC connector into a wall socket or extension cord. Refer to the charger manual for more  information.

Maintenance:

Periodically inspect the winch cable, anchoring chain, hardware, and wiring. Make any  necessary repairs before using.

Maintenance

Hand truck tire air pressure: Check the air pressure once a month. It can be adjusted to change the  handling characteristics of the dolly. The recommended pressure is 30 PSI, but the operational range is  20-70psi. Using higher pressure increases the weight capacity of the tires, but it makes the ride stiffer.  Lower pressure makes the dolly handle bumps better but it can cause the tires to get spongy when put  under heavy loads.

Wagon wheels air pressure: The small tires on the wagon attachment should be inflated to 30psi. Check  monthly.

Lug nuts: Check annually for tightness

Bearings: The bearings are grease packed and sealed, but serviceable. You can dissemble, clean, repack with grease, and reassembled if needed. It is recommended this be performed by a qualified technician such as a mechanic that specializes in trailer axles.

Footbrake: Check bolts for tightness annually. Check pivot pins or bolts and bushings for wear and  replace if needed. Replace springs if the brake no longer returns completely to resting position.

Repairs: Any repairs should be performed by a qualified technician such as a certified welder or  mechanic. Call Jolly Dolly LLC for advice and guidance on any repairs. Do not modify the dolly.
